Our Mission

To improve the adoption probability of rescue and shelter dogs and minimize the surrendering and euthanasia of dogs by their owners due to behavioral and obedience issues through proper training and handling techniques and care of dogs as well as providing assistance in training through instruction by approved trainers and scholarships for individuals in need of training for their dogs.

Training

A.D.O.P.T. provides a necessary link between shelters and  rescue groups and local approved trainers to help provide much needed obedience training and behavior modification to dogs currently available for adoption. The programs available will vary by location and availability of trainers. Please contact A.D.O.P.T. to find out more about the programs available in your area.

Scholarships

A.D.O.P.T. also provides scholarships to those individuals who currently own dogs and are in need of training assistance. These scholarships are available on a limited basis and are awarded based on several criteria including severity of behavioral problems, financial need, and nominations by dog related professionals. If you or someone you know could benefit from the scholarship program, please contact A.D.O.P.T.

Education

A.D.O.P.T. also makes education a part of it’s mission. We believe by educating the public on proper training and handling techniques as well as proper care of dogs, we can better the bond between Master and dog and make progress toward keeping more dogs in permanent homes. Our goal is to create happy, stable homes for all dogs.
